wow, you sounded like the PAP, I very scare leh!

There are about 3,000 households in Singapore who are living without water and electricity because they have no jobs and therefore no money to pay for their utility bills. There are many more who are struggling to pay their bills. To these people every cent counts, do you think they will waste water carelessly and be charged more?

It is not that we want to rely on Malaysian water but do we have a choice? If the govt were to offer us another source of water at a cheaper rate, I'm sure we would gladly take it.

As everyone has a basis need for water, the water conservation tax should only be imposed after a certain usage has been breached and not from the very first drop of water one used.

Petrol tax in Singapore has never been used to discourage activities that pollute the environment. It is a good source of revenue for the govt.

The increases in S&C charges in PAP wards are due mainly to inefficient management of fund and the obession to fatten the reserves.

Amk GRC total voters = 159,872
Workers Party = 49,468
Pappy = 96,591
Total valid votes = 146,059
This means spoilt votes/could'nt wake up to vote/squatting in QT remand so can't vote = 13,813

So our beloved elections department conviniently took the percentage of valid votes the Pappy won and declared that they took 66.13% of the vote, neglecting to mention that it is 66.13% of the valid vote.

Now if you look at it from the raw stats point of view,
AMK GRC Total 159,872 = 100%
WP = 49,468 = 30.94%
PAP = 96,591 = 60.42%
Invalid = 13,813 = 8.64%

Guess they calculated it the other way maybe because a 60% STRONG MANDATE (bwahahaha) might be a little too embarassing for the dragon prince? Apparantly the 13.8k voters who were too frightened to vote opposition but did not want to give a mandate to LHL did not matter to the elections department? Food for thought yes?

Strong mandate comes from my bloody ass, mate. Please don't hide the undisputable fact that the mandate has been reduced significantly since the last election.

Every taxi driver I speak too has voted for the opposition. And you call this a strong mandate? Stop fooling yourself please.

The sad thing is that many Singaporeans will accept the 'strong mandate' claim hook, line, and sinker without stopping to think about how losing a full one-third of the vote can constitute a 'strong mandate'.

They may present it in any way they want, but the statistics don't lie; in the previous election PAP's mandate was 75%. That's a drop by a full 9 percentage points, which is surely no small potatoes to any political party.

Unfortunately, the more they repeat the 'strong mandate' claim repeatedly in our so-called free press, the more will people believe it. Rolling Eyes

After the Elections, the Ruling Party has forgotten their use of Third World Political Methods to compete with the Alternative Parties, who stuck to their plan of behaving like First World Politicians - so as to expose the sham in the Ruling Party's claim of being First World Citizens.

Now the Ruling Party is justifying their claim of overwhelming victory by comparing their result of a 66.6% votes with the First World election process where marginal difference in votes are counted in hundreds.

The Ruling Party has conveniently NOT mentioned that in the First World Countries -

there are NO WALK-OVER CONSTITUENCIES,

all Electoral Boundaries are clearly defined and NEVER CHANGED with each election to suit the incumbent,

all forms of VOTE BUYING is ILLEGAL,

the Electoral Department is INDEPENDENT and the Head of the Electoral Department is NON-POLITICAL,

FREE MEDIA that is INDEPENDENT of control by ANY ONE POLITICAL PARTY,

Government agencies and Civil Servants are NOT ALLOWED to help the INCUMBENT Ruling Party.

Can the same be said of the political situation in Singapore ?

This claim by the Ruling Party of having a strong mandate from this 2006 Election is a hollow one, made only to justify for themselves to another FIVE YEARS of rule in ARROGANT DECISION making processes.
